Not only has this post been a LONG time coming, but the 11 months since my last post have seen a LOT of change. We didn’t get a new house or start new jobs (well, not exactly), but it has been the CRAZIEST year of our lives. Ever.
Let’s start with a smaller, but still exciting development. We got a puppy! I gave Chris a dog collar last December saying, “If we can’t have babies, we may as well get a dog.” We were waiting for her to be old enough to come home with us when I did the Swap post last March and she came home with us about 10 days later. She is the sweetest, craziest, wildest yellow lab you ever did see and we LOVE our Sweet Honey. She cuddled with me ALL summer when I was on summer break from teaching and I found myself instantly transformed into a dog person. I got serious mom-guilt when we left her to go on trips and my husband is very lucky that she’s never made it into our bed. She was the sweetest tiny puppy and, at a year old, is the biggest cuddler…even though sometimes she’s insane and obnoxious.
We haven’t done much to our house and I have done very few DIY projects, but it’s all worth it because we accomplished the ultimate DIY…
we have BABIES!
I know that some of you may have known that from being personal friends or from following our Facebook page (which has been mostly dormant as well), but after all of the sweet, wonderful comments and positive thoughts and prayers that have come through this blog, we only felt it right to officially announce it in this post! We found out we were pregnant during the middle of last February and I was feeling exhausted and rough when I wrote that Swap post. We found out the week of the Swap post that we were having twins and I started praying that they were boy/girl twins which I had always wanted, but we were obviously elated to be pregnant AT ALL after nearly 4 years of trying. We announced on Facebook in April and were OVERWHELMED with support and well wishes. There were definitely some tears as I read all of the amazing comments we received that week.
God came through bigger than we ever could’ve expected and in early October we welcomed perfectly wonderful boy/girl twins whom we’ve nicknamed Buddy and Squeaker. They are the sweetest and we love every single second with them, even the crazy ones. I can’t lie, I was probably the least surprised person (but still totally blown away with gratitude) when the ultrasound showed two little babies. My poor husband almost fainted, I think, and the doctor was convinced that we would only *maybe* have one baby, but I knew in my heart from a day or two after the test. In fact, this is a really meaningful day to be posting this because one year ago today, February 2, 2015, we drove to our new doctor for our first IUI (I’ll share more of that story in the coming months- total God moments everywhere) and created our sweet babies. Happy anniversary of conception day, my sweet loves!
As a result, I’ve decided to stay home to soak in every second of these sweet babies and I’m hoping that means I can spend more time (with those of you who are left) here! There are PLENTY of things to do at our house, which I can’t help but think about as I’m nursing two babies or snuggling them on the couch all day, and I’m sure I’ll get to them eventually.
I’m not trying to put my children’s whole lives on the internet by any means, but I’m going to give you a few sneak peeks of my sweet babes. If you want a little more, comment, email, or follow on Facebook or Instagram where I can have a *smidge* more control of what you see.
Just nine days old! My goodness!
Best. View. Ever. My 2015 babies!
I hope you all will come back and stick with us! I’ve definitely missed the blog world and my little outlet. Here’s to “mommy time” on the internet!
