Guys! Hey! This is me posting twice in a month! Those of you coming from my girl, Karen, at Dogs Don’t Eat Pizza probably don’t understand how momentous it is that I’m posting twice in one month, so just celebrate with me anyway! 🙂
I know you just saw what a cool transformation Karen (and all of the other bloggers this week) orchestrated. I won’t pretend that mine are as amazing as some of the ones you’ve seen in the past 3 days, but one has form and both have function, so I’m pleased!
My girl, Charlotte, from Ciburbanity who is the brains of this whole #swapitlikeitshot operation sent me some great Goodwill finds. I actually loved everything she sent me but was only able time-wise to use two of the items. Here’s my haul from Charlotte (minus a small glass bottle already to put to work as Halloween decor)!
My first overhaul was purely function. I am constantly on the hunt for the bobby pins I leave laying on every.empty.surface and when I got the tin, I decided to ditch the snowman motif for some white spray paint and chalkboard paint in case I wanted to change the function later. Well, my painter’s tape bled so this looks super amateur hour, but I’ll probably either re-spray it later or chalkboard paint the whole thing. For now, it’s saving my life containing hair ties and bobby pins. Because with two one year-olds, who has time to look for bobby pins? And who has time to shower, not needing bobby pins in the first place? Answer: not me. Also, yes my bathroom is green…from 2008. No, the belly butter was no match for two babies in my belly. No, I’m not *that* dirty but the grout is the wrong kind (not my doing) and I’d have to pull it all out for it to look clean. Annoying.
The second (and my VERY favorite) is inspired by one of my favorite artists and creators, Lucy of Lucy’s Lockets. I happen to own 4 necklaces and a leather cuff from Lucy and I’m always adding more of her styles to my wishlist. TWO years ago (yes, two) Lucy sent me some extra leather cording to make my own necklaces since I had found some old door hardware I wanted to transform. When I saw the prisms from Charlotte, I knew now was the time! I went to Michael’s, bought some antique brass wire and tiny jeweler pliers and made my sweet new necklace! And yes, that is a baby’s muslin swaddler I’m using to flat lay the necklace. (#momlife) I’m pretty pumped for new jewelry and also pumped to transform a few of the other treats from Charlotte at a later date…I’m thinking some kind of windchime-y thing for the little molds and left over prisms?
As always, I’ve loved doing this and hope that you are loving the transformations you’ve seen (and will continue to see) this week! Head on over to Meagan at The Charming Farmer to see what she’s come up with using the items I sent her and continue to check back throughout the week for more #swapitlikeitshot!
